Swedish

The most common type of massage. Uses a medium to firm pressure to improve circulation, ease  muscle aches and tension, improves flexibility and relaxes the body, mind and spirit. Swedish massage employs basic moves recommended for a whole body  massage: Long gliding strokes, kneading, friction, percussion, compression. Bodywork is performed on a massage table. Lotion or massage oils are applied during massage. Used most commonly to release stress, anxiety, relaxation…

Swedish is the foundation for other types of massages, including deep tissue, aroma therapy, myofascial release techniques.

Deep Tissue

Aimed at the deeper structures of the muscle tissue, the  connective tissues. Uses basically same techniques as Swedish with more intense pressure. It is a slower paced, more focused type of massage intended to release deeper layers of  muscles. Deep tissue massage is generally helpful in injury cases, sports, chronic pain, rehabilitation, migraines.

Neuromuscular Therapy

( Trigger Point Therapy )  Concentrated pressure to painful, irritated areas in the muscle tissue. A trigger point is an especially sensitive nerve bundle that, when compressed by tense muscles, sends referred pain to another area of the body . It is used to gently release restrictions in the connective tissue layer thus restoring healthy alignment  and function of the muscle. Sessions can include stretching and deep pressure techniques. Trigger point therapy helps eliminate pain by re-educating the muscles into pain free habits. It relieves tension and therefore circulation, flexibility and coordination will improve. Trigger point is very effective  for injuries, rehabilitation, repetitive motion pains, migraines, sports…

Sports Massage

A custom massage strategy will be designed for each individual’s therapeutic needs.

Reflexology

Applying pressure to feet or hands using thumb and finger techniques on a system of zones (reflex areas) that mirror parts ad image to the body . There are reflex areas in the face, ears, head, hands and feet. It is a great way to work on the frail and elderly, children, people that for whatever reason are not able to receive full body massage.

Chair Massage

Applying pressure to feet or hands using thumb and finger techniques on a system of zones (reflex areas) that mirror parts ad image to the body . There are reflex areas in the face, ears, head, hands and feet. It is a great way to work on the frail and elderly, children, people that for whatever reason are not able to receive full body massage.

Ortho-Bionomy

If a muscle is contracted, perhaps even to the point of  creating an imbalance of the bones within a joint, the body is positioned in such a way as to contract the muscle a little further. This positioning does a few things at the same time: First it takes the strain off the contracted muscle by allowing to complete the motion of contraction. This in turn sets off a reflexive response within the body to begin adjusting the position of the opposing muscles in order to accommodate this change in muscle length. This muscular rebalancing alone is sometimes enough for the body to return to a natural state of realignment. There is an additional neurological response that happens in conjunction with this muscular response: Proprioceptive reflexes. Proprioceptive nerves are usually clustered in and around the joints. Movement, specifically movement of the joint, stimulates these nerve endings. Moving the effected joint stimulates these proprioceptors effectively sending the signal: “Hey, pay attention here!” Once a release position is found compression is usually applied. Now we combined muscular and neurological info on how the body experiences movements. The focus is on finding a release position that creates comfort in order for the body to release and relax, causing its physical structure to reassert itself.

Aroma Therapy

This is one of the most gentle and versatile healing arts. By harnessing the therapeutic properties of the essential oils extracted from aromatic plants, a whole host of physical and psychological complaints can be relieved. From stress to skin disorders, from respiratory problems to digestive complaints, essential oils can be selected according to their specific healing properties and applied in a variety of ways such as in a bath or by massage. Aroma Therapy is easily integrated into a Swedish massage for maximum relaxation/rejuvenation benefits.

Myofascial Release

( myo = muscle / fascia = protective membrane ) A safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Each Myofascial release treatment session is performed directly on skin without /or very little oil or lotion, creams or machinery. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release to the fascia.

Pregnancy Massage

A custom massage strategy will be designed for each individual’s therapeutic needs.

Kinesio Taping

The Kinesio Taping Method is felt to cause physiological effects on several body systems. The systems affected by the body are thought to include the circulatory/lymphatic, neural, muscular, and fascial systems, as well as the joints. Kinesio Taping is currently being used by therapists to change muscle tone, move lymphatic fluids, correct movement patterns, and improve posture. The Kinesio Taping Method is a unique method of applying Kinesio Tex Tape in a specific manner to create change in the aforementioned systems
